ITM - International Training Massage School
Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai
About the school
ITM is the largest and most systematised of the foreigner-facing Chiang Mai schools, and for many Western practitioners it is the default. Its distinguishing feature is a fully mapped ladder: Introduction, then Levels I to IV, then teacher training, then the 390-hour Certified Advanced Practitioner and Teacher programme, then a 400-hour Senior Teacher track - a progression you can enter as a total beginner and leave qualified to teach. The style is northern-influenced but consciously modernised, emphasising flowing movement, body mechanics that spare the therapist, sensitivity to the receiver and adapting rather than reciting a fixed routine. Everything is taught in English by teachers accustomed to Western students, and the school aligns its documentation with NCBTMB, CTHA, CMTBC and AAMT requirements, which matters if you need continuing-education credit at home. It suits career-minded students and anyone who wants structure, paperwork and a clear route to teaching. It suits less well those seeking a raw, traditional, one-master environment: ITM is efficient and professional rather than mystical.

Accreditation
The school states its certificates are accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education and that its programmes comply with NCBTMB, Thai government, CTHA, CMTBC and AAMT standards. Treat the international bodies as recognition for continuing-education purposes rather than accreditation of the school itself, and check your own board directly - ITM's own registration page warns that NCBTMB students must attend 100 percent of class hours.
